A groundbreaking, $30 million study into cell phones has found a link between long term use and brain tumors.
The World Health Organization is about to reveal that its decade-long investigation has found the devices can lead to cancer — and the internationally-respected body will soon issue a public health message with its findings, London’s Daily Telegraph reported today.
The conclusion goes against years of assurances by cell phone companies and scientists that cell phone use is safe.
First, they didn’t cause cancer; then they did cause cancer. Once again they didn’t cause cancer and now, here we are again, they do cause cancer.
Many studies have investigated the possible health effects of normal cell phone use. The most recent assessment prior to this one was published in 2007 by the European Commission Scientific Committee on Emerging and Newly Identified Health Risks (SCENIHR). It concludes that no significant health effect has been demonstrated from cell phone radiation at normal exposure levels: Normal exposure to mobile phone radiation cannot cause headaches or dizziness, nor can it cause brain cancers, neurological effects or reproductive effects. I am guessing this most recent study has come up with the conclusion that cell phones cause cancer by using the following method for the past ten years:
$30 million can buy a lot of duct tape.
